Privacy Policy

Haulout (“Haulout,” “we,” “us”) operates a marketplace that connects yacht brokers, marine surveyors, and vessel buyers. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Haulout you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account information: name, email address, password (stored hashed by our authentication provider), phone number, and your role (broker or surveyor).
• Profile information: brokerage or business name, location, website, bio, certifications, service areas, specialties, rates, and profile photo.
• Survey request information: vessel details, survey location, preferred dates, notes, and the buyer’s name, mobile number, and email address as provided by the broker.
• Activity and content: proposals, messages between users, schedules, reviews, notifications, and survey reports uploaded by surveyors.
• Technical information: cookies needed to keep you signed in, and basic device, browser, and performance data collected by our hosting and analytics tools.

How we use information

• To operate the marketplace: matching requests with surveyors, delivering proposals, scheduling surveys, and sharing completed reports.
• To send service notifications by email and text message, as described below.
• To verify surveyors, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the platform secure.
• To maintain and improve Haulout, and to measure the performance of our own advertising.
• To comply with legal obligations.

Who sees your information

• Brokers and surveyors see the profile and request details needed to do business with each other. The assigned surveyor sees the buyer’s contact information for the survey.
• Buyers who receive a secure link see the surveyor proposals and surveyor profiles for their request, and can download their completed report. Brokers are notified when a survey is completed but do not receive the report through Haulout.
• Service providers process data on our behalf: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Vercel (hosting and performance analytics), Resend (email delivery), and Twilio (text message delivery). We may also use advertising and analytics tools such as the Meta Pixel to measure and improve our own ads.
• Legal and safety: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Haulout, our users, or others.

We do not sell your personal information.

Text messaging and mobile information

If you provide a mobile number and opt in, or a broker provides a buyer’s number for a survey they requested, we use it to send service text messages about that activity (for example new survey requests, proposals, surveyor selection, scheduling, and survey completion). Details of the program, including how to opt out, are in our Text Messaging Terms.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We share phone numbers only with the service providers, such as Twilio, that deliver messages on our behalf. Message and data rates may apply.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

We use cookies that are necessary to sign you in and keep your session secure. We use Vercel Speed Insights to measure site performance. We may use the Meta Pixel on our public pages and during account creation to measure the effectiveness of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram and to show ads to people who have visited Haulout. The Meta Pixel collects information such as pages viewed and actions taken, and may set cookies. You can manage ad preferences in your Facebook and Instagram settings, and you can block or clear cookies in your browser.

Data retention and security

We keep information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls, but no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

Your choices and rights

• Update your profile and notification preferences, including turning email or text notifications off, in your account settings.
• Reply STOP to any text message to opt out of texts.
• Contact us to access, correct, or delete your information, or to close your account. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.

Children

Haulout is intended for business use by adults and is not directed to children under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the date at the top. Continued use of Haulout after a change means you accept the updated policy.
